Blooming Tea
Blooming tea (also called flowering tea) is made by carefully binding dried tea leaves around one or more dried blossoms to form a compact bulb or tube. When steeped in hot water the bundle slowly opens like a flower, revealing the decorative blooms while infusing a mild, aromatic tea.
Producers commonly use flowers such as globe amaranth, chrysanthemum, jasmine, lily, hibiscus and osmanthus to create different shapes, colors and fragrances. These teas are usually brewed in clear glass teapots or tall cups so drinkers can enjoy the visual "bloom" as well as the flavor; a single handcrafted bundle can typically be steeped two to three times before the liquor weakens or turns bitter.
Blooming tea is often sold as a gift or specialty item and is currently exported mainly to the United States, Canada, Russia, the UAE, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore etc.
